Owned and operated by the first family of football, the 29th annual Manning Passing Academy recently wrapped up at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, La.
The camp annually draws some of the most successful coaches and players from the professional, college, and high school ranks to serve as counselors. And it's not just for quarterbacks. Campers, who must be between the ages of those entering eighth grade and seniors to be in high school, include running backs, tight ends, wide receivers, and of course, quarterbacks.
The star-studded alumni list includes Jaxson Dart, the 25th overall pick by the Giants in April's draft. It was at the Manning Passing Academy last summer that Eli Manning got an up-close look at Dart, who served as a counselor.
"I've been to games, and I'd seen him briefly, but it was the first time really getting to sit down with him, hang out with him, go on stage, and tell some stories," Manning told reporters at the time. "I enjoyed his personality. I was able to take some lighthearted digs at him, and he reciprocated and did the same with me, which is fun. That's what it's all about. It kind of makes it special for the group. I got to hang with him and eat dinner with him. He seems like a great kid and has a good head on his shoulders. I'm excited about his future."
Now his future is in a Giants uniform.
